SQUEEGEE BLADE
White rubber is perfectly serviceable for most print jobs in the Art
room, especially fabric printing. The disadvantages are that rubber deteriorates.
It loses its printing "edge" quickly and is attacked by strong
solvents.
Polyurethane, on the other hand, is tough, keeps a good "edge"
for 1000s prints and is not adversely affected by strong solvents. It
is particularly suited for high quality "Fine Art" prints. 'D'
Cut (V-Section) is designed specifically for fabric printing. It ensures
a good ink deposit and retains definition.

MESH PREP GEL (MESH PREPARATION)
Screens which are stretched with Monofilament Bolting Cloth
will require degreasing before emulsions, fillers or films can be applied
to them. The reason for this is that the surface of the thread is so smooth
that minute traces of grease (even grease from your hands) will create
problems with adhesion and cause premature breakdown of the stencil.
The GEL is non-corrosive, safe to handle and easy to use. Simply wet the
mesh and using a soft-bristled washing-up brush loaded with the GEL lightly
scrub both sides of the mesh. Leave 2 minutes then rinse thoroughly and
allow the screen to dry. Use rubber gloves to protect your hands.

SELECTASINE WATER RESISTANT DIAZO EMULSION
Fully water-resistant diazo sensitized emulsion. The whole
container may be sensitized before use as the shelf-life is in excess
of 3 months if stored in cool dry conditions. Coated screens may be stored
in cool, dry, dark conditions for up to 2 weeks.

PHOTO EMULSIONS GENERAL METHOD
- Prepare screen by degreasing mesh with MESH PREP GEL and allow to
dry.
- Sensitize the emulsion.
- Coat the screen evenly using a coating trough, 3 coats each side,
"wet-on-wet" starting with 3 coats on the underside. Don't
over-apply the emulsion. If the coating is too heavy remove the surplus
by running the dry blade of the coating trough up both sides of the
screen.
- Dry in horizontal/printing position with the frame propped up and
in the dark or darkroom conditions. Drying can be assisted using a fan
provided dust is not blown around or heat spots are generated. (Emulsions
are sensitive to light and heat).
- Place film positive (Photomask) in close contact with mesh and expose
to ultra-violet light.
- Use cold water spray to wash out screen until image area is clear.
- Swab off excess water using Newsprint and/or chamois leather and
dry screen
- Stencils can be removed using Stencil Remover Concentrate Fluid.
STENCIL REMOVER CONCENTRATE
Add 1 measure of stencil remover concentrate to 20 measures of water.
Wet both sides of the screen with this liquid and scrub with a soft-bristled
nylon brush. Leave for a maximum of two minutes, then wash away with a
strong jet of water.
Use rubber gloves to protect hands and eye protection.
